Pike County Dogwood Festival
Event held on the streets of Piketon Ohio, features exhibits highlighting old-fashioned arts and crafts, antique car show, bike show, cyclists Dogwood Tour, chain saw skill, fiddle and banjo contests, pie eating contest, horseshoe contests, band concerts, and lots of good old-fashioned food. Cyclist Dogwood Tour
30th Annual Cyclist Dogwood Tour begins at the old Piketon High School, West St., Piketon. Cost is $8.00 day of the ride. Fifty miles of paved road, beautiful scenery...said by many past riders to have been the prettiest ride they have ever been on! This ride begins along the Scioto River and follows a creek valley gradually into the hills and into a little town called Nipgen, known as "Possum Trot" by early settlers, and whre a chicken noodle lunch and other menu items may be purchased at the Nipgen United Methodist Church. Next, it is downhill for nealy 20 miles back to the Scioto River Valley and the Piketon Dogwood Festival. This is an ideal training ride for T.O.S.R.V as it has a similar terrain setup TDD=3. Start up 8:00 AM. Registration includes Sag Service, Map and Commenorative Patch. Double Trouble Disc Golf Tournament Second Round
Players meet at 10:00 a.m. with the tee off at 10:30 a.m. There is an entry fee for tournaments. Contact: South Central Ohio Disc Golf website or phone Pike Lake State Park at 740-493-2212. This course sits in Pike Lake State Park, seven miles from Bainbridge, Ohio. The longest distance is the #12 hole at 420 feet. This eighteen hole course, designed by Marc Queen, is free and open to public except during tournaments. The Pike Lake State Park course is rated as the most scenic and the best overall course. Discs, bags and T-shirts are available at the Pike Lake store next to the park office.

Railroad Rendezvous-Pike Lake
The Pike Lake State Park's Annual Railroad Rendezvous will be held Saturday July 19, 2008. This is an opportunity to recognize the social and economic impact of railroading in Ohio. Of special interest is the DT&I that passed through nearby Bainbridge and Summit Hill. This part of the DT&I trackage was known as the "Balloon Route" as it had the steepest grade in Ohio. There will be displays of model railroads in several scales, collectibles and memorabilia, and a chance to share stories with those who worked for the railroads as well as those who are still involved in this vital transportation industry. There will be a Quilt Show, rail exhibits and model train displays open from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Railroad games for all ages will begin at 1:00 p.m. Other activities during the day will include, music by Tony Dzik, folk and blues musician at 11:30 a.m. and Hayride tours of Pike Lake State Park will begin at 6:00 p.m. The Sodbusters will perform at 7:00 p.m. Park visitors on Saturday need not worry about packing a picnic lunch as the "Friends of Pike Lake" will have their kitchen open from noon until 7:00 p.m., featuring: burgers, brats, pop, chips, and hotdogs for a nominal cost. The sound system to be used at the event was purchased by the Friends group to make playing at Pike Lake easier for the musicians. Admission to this event is free and open to the public. The Friends of Pike Lake State Park is a non profit organization that supports the educational and recreational programs, services and activities for the visitors at Pike Lake State Park. It is recommended that if you are coming from Waverly or Piketon area you should take St. Rt. 220 from Waverly,turn North on St.Rt. 772 through Buchanan and Nipgen. Turn left in Nipgen onto Potts Hill Road and follow about 6 miles, turn left onto Pike Lake Rd. and it will bring you into the park.

Harvest Moon Campout
The weekend events kick off on Friday, October 3rd. with a Hospitality Hour sponsored by park staff for park guests at 5:30 p.m. at the camp store in the middle of the park. Cottage and campground guests may pick up their pumpkins at this time, to be decorated for the contest to be held Saturday afternoon. All activities are centrally located and are within easy walking distance from the campground and the guest cottages. Also offered will be hayride tours of the park led by park naturalist Matt Minter. On Saturday the day starts off with registration for the cornhole tournament at 9:30 a.m. The quilt and craft show will run from 10:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. Kids games for the younger set will be held from 1:00-2:00 p.m. with Hayrides from 4:30-6:30 p.m. The traditional Pike Lake Bean Soup Dinner served at the John C. Cooper Memorial Amphitheater begins at 5:30 p.m. Music begins at 7:00 p.m.

Waverly Lions Club Halloween Parade
The Waverly Lions Club Halloween Parade will be on Friday, Oct. 31 at 7:15 PM. Everyone is invited to participate. The parade will line up, beginning at 6PM, in the Waverly High School Athletic Facility parking lot and proceed down Second Street to the reviewing stand at Market Street and back to the parking lot using Third Street. A children's Halloween costume contest with cash prizes will be judged in the grassy area between the parking lot and the football stadium starting at 6:45 PM in the catergories of original, beautiful, grotesque or comical. Awards will be presented at the conclusion of the parade in front of the reviewing stand.

FNB Jingle Bell Parade Weekend
This Festival starts with the lighting of Canal Park on Thursday night with thousands of lights being turned on by the Jingle Bell Committee. The celebration kicks off on Friday night with A Spaghetti Dinner (cost) and the Candy Cane Variety Show (admission) at the new Waverly High School auditorium with a blend of performers, Saturday morning the Jingle Bell 5K run will start at 8:00 AM. Opening at 10:00 AM is a huge indoor craft show at old Waverly High School auditorium, at 12:00 noon the doors open for the Wine Tasting and Art Show (admission)at the Emmitt House, wines and 10 mediums of art will be featured, there will be a Gingerbread Story House for children, Queens Luncheon on Saturday with the Largest night time illuminated Christmas Parade (print
application here) in southern Ohio at 5:00 PM winding through the streets of Waverly. After the parade, there will be a Childrens' play (location TBA). Also featured is a "Lantern Tour" at approx. 7:00 PM, featuring stories by local historian and playwright, Delmar Burkitt. Enjoy the historic Homes tours on Sunday, with homes decorated for Christmas. Many antique and specialty shops will be open throughout the weekend. Surprise events and characters will be added to the list of entertainment this year.

Christmas Craft Show During Jingle Bell Weekend
We look forward to another successful Christmas Craft Show and Festival. Applications will be processed as they are received, first come, first served. Spaces will be approximately 10x10 and crafters will be responsible for their tables and backdrops. The application fee is a non-refundable donation of $20.00. The checks should be made out to PCOC, and enclosed with your application when turned in. The Craft Show is going to be held at the Pike County Library on Market St. Crafters may set up at 7:30 the morning of the Craft Show. The Show will be open to the public at 10:00 a.m. and close at 4:00 p.m. We ask that you do not take down displays until the Craft Show ends. Jingle Bell Tour of Homes
The Tour of Homes for the 2008 Jingle Bell Weekend will feature some of Pike County's homes. The committee members who work on the tours believe this will be a great experience to put you in the holiday spirit. Tour times will be at 1:00, 1:45, 2:30, 3:15 and 4:00 during the afternoon of November 22. As in the past few years, tours will originate at the Pike Heritage Museum on South Market Street in Waverly and transportation will be provided using buses. Costumed guides will be on each tour to add to the enjoyment of the afternoon. Advanced tickets are now on sale and reservations are highly recommended to guarantee bus seating. If you would like additional information or would like to reserve your seats, please call Delmar or Jeannine Burkitt at 740-289-3570. Tickets for the tour will be priced at $6.00 each. If you decide to take the Tour of Homes as well as participate in the Lantern Tour, you can save a little cash by buying combination tickets for the two events at only $10.00 per person.

Wine Tasting and Art Show
This event takes place during the Jingle Bell Parade Weekend on Saturday from noon to 4:00 P.M. at the historic Emmitt House in Waverly. Featured are all Ohio wines from the shores of Lake Erie to the shores of the Ohio River. Fine wine along with fine art are the fare for the afternoon. Artists will show works in 10 mediums for sale. Cheeses, fruits, and delightful desserts to compliment the wines will be served. You may taste as many wines as you like with the entrance fee to the Art Show. Call ahead for a list of events going on this weekend, such as the largest night-time illuminated Christmas Parade in southern Ohio, the "Lantern Tour" with playwright, Delmar Burkitt after the Parade, and many other features of this weekend.
